{"product_id":"0025192137921","title":"The Mummy Returns [P\u0026S]","description":"\"The mummy returns with a DVD that's almost more infomercial than it is informative. This Universal collector's edition is presented in a 1.33:1 full-frame format, putting the sweeping, sandy desert shots to waste. While the 5.1 Dolby Digital audio is crisp, viewers will still feel cheated seeing such a large-scale movie presented in such a compact way. English and French audio are available, along with English captions. While there is a great number of bonus materials, many would do well to be called commercials. The first three segments: \"\"Exclusive Conversation With the Rock\"\" (interview), \"\"The Scorpion King\"\" (trailer), and \"\"Unlock the Secrets to the Scorpion King\"\" (DVD-ROM link to movie production) are little more than advertisements for the spring 2002 release. Then there are the two plugs for Universal Studios (\"\"The Mummy Returns: Chamber of Doom\"\" and \"\"The Mummy Returns Special Offer\"\"), \"\"The Mummy Returns Playstation 2 Game Trailer,\"\" and the \"\"Special Message From Oded Fehr\"\" asking for donations to the Kids Cancer Connection. Okay, get past the sales pitches and you do find a few gems along with the standard DVD fare (cast and filmmakers, production notes, DVD-ROM, DVD newsletter, recommendations). \"\"Spotlight on Location\"\" is a great behind-the-scenes featurette that showcases the impressive energy and passion of director Stephen Sommers. He also does the feature commentary with executive producer\/editor Bob Ducsay. There's a humorous \"\"Outtakes\"\" segment and Live's music video for \"\"Forever May Not Be Long Enough.\"\" But the two best features by far are \"\"Egyptology 201\"\" and \"\"Visual and Special Effects Formation.\"\" \"\"Egyptology 201\"\" offers interesting and informative textual lessons: \"\"In-depth Look At Mummification,\"\" \"\"The Most Famous Mummy: King Tut,\"\" \"\"Animals of Ancient Egypt,\"\" \"\"Myths and Magic of Ancient Egypt,\"\" and \"\"The Scorpion King: Myth or Reality?\"\" (EASTER EGG: Click on the scorpion in the mummification area to see a fascinating video about a modern day doctor who replicated the mummy process.) \"\"Visual and Special Effects Formation\"\" is a technical treat that takes an in-depth look at five scenes (Imhoptep Returns, Pygmy Mummies Attack, Anubis Warriors Rising, and Scorpion King revealed) and how they were created. Visual effects supervisor John Berton explains the process with a step-by-step look at the conceptual stage, reference plates, animation tests, plate photography, visual effects elements, and the final feature sequence. This feature will give viewers a strong sense of the movie's complexity in execution and will inspire respect, even in those who didn't care for the sequel itself.\"","brand":"UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOME ENT.","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47093416919280,"sku":"0025192137921","price":9.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0737\/7593\/9824\/files\/0025192137921_p0.jpg?v=1763783903","url":"https:\/\/shop-qa.barnesandnoble.com\/products\/0025192137921","provider":"Barnes \u0026 Noble (DEV)","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
