{"product_id":"0086624415437","title":"Attack Of The Crab Monsters","description":"\"The word disappointment is much too mild to describe one's first reaction to screening this disc -- the source is very obviously a scratched and worn 16 mm print, which has also faded somewhat. To top it off, it's clear that nobody examined the film-to-video transfer for flaws, because there are drop-outs in the image at various points, and hiccups in the sound. The image quality is so low that this looks like the DVD equivalent of those old, early budget CDs mastered from vinyl sources; that said, this disc wouldn't be so frustrating if it were a budget-priced release from, say, Alpha Video, but Allied Artists Entertainment has not priced it cheaply. The drop-outs are only intermittent and not that numerous (though they shouldn't be there at all), but then one is left with a dark, grainy image, soft in detail and lacking contrast. The problems suggest that the source may well have been a one-light 16 mm transfer, not even intended for broadcast, and perhaps even an SP-speed 1\/2-inch VHS tape, which is like mastering a CD from an 8-track tape. The middle reels are in somewhat better overall shape than the opening -- at 25 minutes in, the picture almost seems near-passable -- but none is in great condition. There are even missing frames around 34 1\/2 minutes into the movie. The strange thing is that, on the production side, some halfway decent effort was made to make this an entertaining disc. The original trailer, two minutes long and surprisingly strong as a promotional piece, is included, and there is also a very entertaining array of publicity art, keyed to Ronald Stein's music, and it's all easily accessible from a simple two-layer menu. The movie has been given a paltry five chapters, however, which isn't close to adequate even to mark out the best suspense and horror moments, let alone the plot. But, considering that the movie's most grisly and famous scene -- in which Leslie E. Bradley's character is devoured, starting from the head, by the giant crab -- is mastered so dark as to be unintelligible, it seems like someone involved in this project just didn't care too much about such matters. Even some pirated titles from Allied Artists' movie library look better -- though it must be conceded that the sound, at least, is good and loud.\"","brand":"AAE FILMS INC","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47086963261680,"sku":"0086624415437","price":19.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"url":"https:\/\/shop-qa.barnesandnoble.com\/products\/0086624415437","provider":"Barnes \u0026 Noble (DEV)","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
