{"product_id":"0612385222993","title":"Daddy, Darling","description":"\"With the exception of Russ Meyer, no one who came out of the pre-hardcore adult film industry of the Sixties and early Seventies made consistently better films than Joe Sarno, and Sarno was capable of crafting a character-driven drama in a way Meyer wasn't; if Meyer liked to call himself \"\"the rural Fellini,\"\" Sarno was the Ingmar Bergman of the skin flicks. Retro-Seduction Cinema has made a number of rare Joe Sarno titles available on DVD, and they've added to that list with the release of 1970's Daddy Darling. Daddy Darling has been transferred to disc in the widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1, letterboxed on conventional televisions and enhanced for anamorphic play on 16x9 monitors. The print used for the transfer has clearly seen hard use over the years; emulsion scratches and speckling are visible throughout, as are shifts in the color balance, and while they're not especially distracting through most of the film, the damage becomes significantly more noticeable midway through chapter eight, and while Retro-Seduction notes that the source materials received significant electronic restoration, they're a long way from pristine. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo retaining the original monophonic sound mix, and like the visuals a certain amount of damage is present; overall, the quality is good for the period and the film sounds better than it looks, but it's still far from ideal. The dialogue is in English, with no subtitles or multiple language options included (the picture was shot in Denmark, and it's fairly obvious some of these actors were not working in their native tongue). Bonus materials include an on-screen interview with Joe Sarno and producer Kenn Collins in which they talk about the making of Daddy Darling, a \"\"Joe Sarno Trailer Vault\"\" (which features just one trailer, for Inga, and a short promotional spot on Retro-Seduction's ongoing Sarno restoration project), trailers for three other Retro-Seduction releases (two of which are by Sarno), and an essay by Michael J. Bowen included in the accompanying booklet. Daddy Darling is certainly worth a look for fans of vintage adult cinema and Joe Sarno followers, but don't go in expecting top-shelf visual quality despite the glossy packaging.\"","brand":"RETRO SEDUCTION","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47086091567344,"sku":"0612385222993","price":19.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0737\/7593\/9824\/files\/0612385222993_p0.jpg?v=1763817565","url":"https:\/\/shop-qa.barnesandnoble.com\/products\/0612385222993","provider":"Barnes \u0026 Noble (DEV)","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
