{"product_id":"0747313902156","title":"Jazz Icons: Erroll Garner - Live in '63 \u0026 '64","description":"\"Naxos Records has mostly been known for revitalizing the classical music field since the end of the 1990s -- but as this DVD illustrates, they've not neglected jazz, either. The contents, in crisp, clear black-and-white, assembled from two performances (1963 in Belgium and 1964 in Sweden), show Garner in a close, warm, intimate setting, accompanied by bassist Eddie Calhoun and drummer Kelly Martin. The renowned pianist applies his uniquely elegant interpretive skills to a brace of familiar tunes, transforming them in the process -- the biggest surprise may be the exotic ornamentation with which he opens \"\"Where Or When\"\" in the Swedish performance. The sound is crisp and the volume full, the audio presence very close, and the full-screen (1.33-to-1) image has been extremely well-preserved (with the 1964 performance having a slight advantage in overall crispness); each song gets a separate chapter-marker, and the disc opens automatically to a dual-layer menu that includes a \"\"play all\"\" as well as access to the two performances separately. And there's a beautifully annotated 20-page booklet (essay by the Washington Post's John Murph) as well, to put the performer, the music, and the performance in perspective.\"","brand":"NAXOS OF AMERICA, INC.","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47088480780528,"sku":"0747313902156","price":19.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0737\/7593\/9824\/files\/0747313902156_p0.jpg?v=1763854270","url":"https:\/\/shop-qa.barnesandnoble.com\/products\/0747313902156","provider":"Barnes \u0026 Noble (DEV)","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
