{"product_id":"0809289090197","title":"Blue Cheer Rocks Europe","description":"\"Forty years after the release of their debut album Vincebus Eruptum and their first (and only) hit single, a thoroughly overloaded version of Eddie Cochran's \"\"Summertime Blues\"\", Blue Cheer are still together and still on the road (and with two-thirds of their founding lineup -- the \"\"new guy,\"\" guitarist Andrew \"\"Duck\"\" McDonald, has been in the band for a mere 25 years), and this DVD finds the band in loud and heavy form playing a show for German television in the spring of 2008. Blue Cheer: Blue Cheer Rocks Europe has been transferred to disc in widescreen format, letterboxed at the 1.78:1 aspect ratio on conventional televisions and enhanced for anamorphic play on 16:9 monitors. The concert was shot on high-definition video and the picture is sharp enough that you can see the wad of chewing gum in Dickie Peterson's mouth during close ups, and the color balance is clear and naturalistic. The audio is presented in two formats, Dolby Digital Stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1; both mixes are appropriately loud and resonant, though the 5.1 mix adds a bit more low-end boom for fans of heavy bass. The songs are performed in English, with no subtitles or multiple language options. Bonus material include a commentary track from bassist and lead vocalist Peterson, who speaks with laconic enthusiasm about the band's career, their musical approach, how they wrote or discovered the songs featured in the set (four of which appeared on their debut LP) and the honor of being awarded a golden bong by High Times magazine for writing the best pot song of the year. The disc also features an on-camera interview with Peterson, a short feature on the band recording in Holland, a slideshow of still photos accompanied by an unreleased version of the tune  \"\"Alligator Boots\"\", and a short liner essay from Jack Endino, who produced their album Highlights and Low Lives. For a band that hasn't scaled the charts in quite a while, this is a DVD release that looks and sounds great, and fans of Blue Cheer's righteous stomp will not be disappointed.\"","brand":"RAINMAN","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47085824934128,"sku":"0809289090197","price":16.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0737\/7593\/9824\/files\/0809289090197_p0.jpg?v=1763872896","url":"https:\/\/shop-qa.barnesandnoble.com\/products\/0809289090197","provider":"Barnes \u0026 Noble (DEV)","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
