Rh-BMP-7 (dose of 30μg\/kg) was not able to accelerate mineralization of the regenerate as cysts developped within the calluses. Rh-BMP-2 (doses of 100 and 250μg\/kg) was efficient in stimulating bone mineralization of the regenerate. A dose effect was also identified on radiographic and densitometric parametres with the rh-BMP-2. Collagenic sponge carrier was identified as well adapted to clinical use in a distraction osteogenesis procedure. This experimental work is a first step to the use of recombinant BMP in clinical practice in the field of leg length discrepancy and bone loss surgical management.
