The marriage proposal is initially a business proposition for general tax purposes, and to keep the company together for the sake of Mike's numerous employees, to whom he is extremely committed and feels a strong sense of responsibility, upon his eventual death. But over the course of Amy's training, the immediate mutual respect between Mike and Amy develops into a deep friendship and, by the time of their marriage, into a strong and loving relationship. \"Connie's Legacy\" goes on to describe both the various forms of disbelief and opposition the couple initially encounters from almost everyone they know (from Amy's parents and Mike's step-daughter to the company's employees) and the sometimes unexpected course their life together takes.     What makes \"Connie's Legacy\" work so well are the extremely believable characters the author has created. Mike and Amy's strengths and weaknesses are well-drawn, and it easy to relate to and to care for and about them. And while the primary focus of the story is upon Mike and Amy, it also includes many other equally distinct and believable characters, such as Amy's parents, sister, and brother, Mike's family from his previous marriage, and various key employees throughout the company.     I highly recommend \"Connie's Legacy\" to anyone looking for an extremely engaging and well-written story with characters one wants to get to know and a strong, non-formulatic plot.      V.
