Two weeks later I received a collect phone call. It was Tim. He was in Los Angeles and heading to Santa Cruz the next day with some folks he’d met on the road. Tim called to inform me that he had decided to leave St. Louis and go traveling. He had no money and no car, he knew that he’d have to hitchhike and find food and money where he could. The last week had given him a taste for his new life and he was determined to see where this path would take him.    These letters span the time from then through the present, some fifteen years at this point. He now lives in Northern California with his wife and two cats. We don’t write much anymore now that he’s working and prefers the telephone to pen and paper. The letters have been faithfully transcribed by Tim and contain many spelling errors that appeared in the original letters.
