Numerous\u003cbr\u003ekings and laypeople sought to meet and host him, since he\u003cbr\u003ewas renowned and loved as a painter while still alive. He\u003cbr\u003ecomments on Martin Luther, Erasmus of Rotterdam and\u003cbr\u003epainting, and demonstrates his curious, inquiring nature. He\u003cbr\u003ealso describes his visit to Zeeland to see a beached whale,\u003cbr\u003ewhich washed away before he got there; but during this\u003cbr\u003evisit, Durer may have caught the disease from which he may\u003cbr\u003ehave died several years later.
