He fought alongside them in the West against the Sioux, in the Philippines against the Moros, and in Europe against the Germans.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis is a historical fiction account of Pershing's life. I chose this venue because there is very little known about him other than his military life. He left few personal papers, so his personal relationships with family, wife and children are sketchy, at best in biographies. I wanted to flesh the man out and show the personal side of him because most of the time he is shown to be emotionless and stern. This side of him only came about after he lost his wife and three of his four children in a fire, which he never got over.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePershing was a great American hero who today very little thought is given to his contributions to the country and how its Army goes to war. He changed the way America prepares for and conducts combat operations.
