It sets out to help in identifying\u003cbr\u003ethe age of a piece; to give clues that may reveal the actual\u003cbr\u003emaker, or at least his nationality; to indicate comparative rarity;\u003cbr\u003eand to suggest what is worth having and what to leave for others.\u003cbr\u003eIn a single slim book it is impossible to do more than outline\u003cbr\u003esome of the many antiques that may be met with ordinarily, and\u003cbr\u003edoubtless there are gaps. To try to fill them, some of the sections\u003cbr\u003elist a few selected books that will be helpful.
