I’ll prepare the advertisement at\u003cbr\u003eonce.”\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe foregoing conversation was carried on between Captain Oliver Quitman\u003cbr\u003eand Samuel Brazzleman, two well-known and very popular steam-boat men of\u003cbr\u003eMemphis, whose experience in that business had won for them an\u003cbr\u003eestablished reputation for reliability and integrity.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe following advertisement appeared in one of the morning papers a few\u003cbr\u003edays after the conversation above related:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e     The new and splendid passenger boat, “White Rose of Memphis,” has\u003cbr\u003e     been purchased by Captain Oliver Quitman, and will be put on the\u003cbr\u003e     line between Memphis and New Orleans. She will start on her first\u003cbr\u003e     trip at 9 A. M., on May 1st, for the Crescent City, under the\u003cbr\u003e     immediate command of her owner. Samuel Brazzleman will officiate at\u003cbr\u003e     the clerk’s desk, and Dave Halliman, at the wheel. The old reliable\u003cbr\u003e     river man, Thomas Henderson, has agreed to take charge of the\u003cbr\u003e     engine. Professor Frazzlebrains’s splendid string band has been\u003cbr\u003e     employed to make music for the amusement of the passengers. A grand\u003cbr\u003e     masquerade ball will be given on board the “White Rose” on the\u003cbr\u003e     evening of the 30th inst., and arrangements will be made to\u003cbr\u003e     continue the amusement every night during the round trip. The grand\u003cbr\u003e     saloon is eminently suited for dancing parties, and has been\u003cbr\u003e     gorgeously furnished with everything necessary to make the\u003cbr\u003e     passengers comfortable. It is the intention of the captain to make\u003cbr\u003e     the first trip one of pleasure and amusement.
