2940015864502
Sex in America
The first segment of this book is called “Explicit Language, (Which Some May Find Offensive).” That warning goes for the whole book. The book is written in the language we use in private, when we are being honest with each other. There are no linguistic evasions; if a spade is a spade, that’s what it’s called.

A friend and teaching colleague once read the first segment and said I was going to have trouble publishing this because the language was too honest. With that warning, let me tell you something about the book.

A man wakes to realize that his wife is masturbating, shortly after they had made love. This discovery upsets him terribly. He sees this as an explicit message is that he is inadequate. The story is how he deals with this upset. Then there is a segment about a man who does not love a woman, but tries to seduce her anyway and the disappointment that grows out of that. There is a spoof about pornography, a piece about the tricks imagination plays on us, a depiction of what happens when a man plays too honestly with his daughter. Finally, there are two novellas, called “Dreams” and “Desires.” In all, explicit language is used. I hope it offends no one. I hope you enjoy these maneuvers and will tell all your friends.
