There are many ideas which cannot be expressed properly for\u003cbr\u003elack of words, or lack of terms. The word consciousness is really\u003cbr\u003ederived from the Latin root =scio=, to know, and =con=, together; so the\u003cbr\u003eword consciousness from the derivative meaning would signify: to know\u003cbr\u003etogether. We use the term generally in the sense of being conscious of\u003cbr\u003ea fact. That is, consciousness means knowing an object, as it were;\u003cbr\u003eknowing something. But the word consciousness really indicates two\u003cbr\u003ethings--subject and object. It implies the duality of existence. There\u003cbr\u003eis one who is the knower, the subject, the ego, the perceiver. I know\u003cbr\u003eit; I am conscious of it; I perceive it; I think about it.
