Certain basic\u003cbr\u003eprinciples and the plan for putting these principles into prac-\u003cbr\u003etice were developed by Frank after a wide and diversified\u003cbr\u003eexperience as a competitive swimmer and as a teacher of\u003cbr\u003eswimming. He was a certified aquatic director for both the\u003cbr\u003eYMCA and the Red Cross in San Francisco for a number of\u003cbr\u003eyears; he left this work to start his own swimming school.\u003cbr\u003eWhat he impressed upon me is the importance of a step-by-\u003cbr\u003estep method of learning about the water, and the exercise of\u003cbr\u003ethe utmost patience in executing this method.
