Even a steel cop killer bullet couldn’t penetrate that shield of fire.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e“Stop!” someone cried.  “You’re burning the bank down!”\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eShocked, Star Brite ceased.  They all stared at the long teller counter, merrily blazing away.  She couldn’t believe what she’d done.  It wasn’t supposed to happen like that.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e“Stupid girl,” an angry voice from behind snarled.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eStar Brite instantly realized she’d made a horrible rookie mistake.  She hadn’t accounted for all of the robbers.  And she let one of them come up behind her.  On top of that, she’d allowed herself to be emotionally caught up in the fire before securing the site.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSummoning fire to throw up as a shield behind her, Star Brite started to whirl around to confront him.  But she saw out of the corner of her eyes the blurred image of an arm descending.  She proved too slow, and the pistol he was holding connected with her head just behind the left ear.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e“Ughh!”\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eStar Brite hit the floor, her world spinning and blackness threatening to engulf her.
