She has asked me to write her story.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eShe has been my patient for the past 38 years seeing me since I first started my clinic.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eShe brings her mother and her children to see me for minor coughs and colds.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOf course as she aged, she also sees me for minor aches and pains.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOnce a year she would go foe an annual blood test which invariably showed nothing significant in her blood except for a slightly raised blood cholesterol.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEvery year she also goes for her annual Pap’s smear and uterus ultrasound without problem.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThere was insignificant enlargement of the womb due to a fibroid formation.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eShe has a history of a father who died of nose cancer and a mother who died of cancer of the colon.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHer younger sister also has cancer of the cervix followed by cancer of the uterus.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWith all these history of cancer, there may be a familial risk of cancer.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e6 months after her last gynecological checkup, she suddenly had small amount of bleeding from the vagina. She immediately saw me and I advised her to see her gynecologist for a review.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eShe immediately made an appointment to see her gynecologist the next day.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe result of the examination was the presence of endometrial polyps in the wall of the uterus. The gynecologist wanted to refer her to a gynecologist oncologist.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eShe asked my opinion about this. Instead I referred her to a husband and wife gynecologist team who had operated on her sister previously.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe appointment was the next day in the morning.
