2940046027815
Satan, Hitch and Snikwad Face Their Demons

NOW we’ve escaped, we can undertake a leisurely review of the not-so-good book. Here we are able to reinforce our decision and better understand what it is we have left behind. Beyond the mind-traps of religious belief and obedience, and the hypnotising drugs of devotion and ritual, numerous rarely-visited biblical writings are intriguing studies from historical, political, and anthropological perspectives. And some are just downright fun to re-read from the other side of the stained glass windows. We soon find that the Bibles (there’s more than one) have nothing whatsoever to do with anyone’s version of “God” (there’s more than one of these too).

In the e-books – to help himself to better understand – Satan has his faithful minions, Hitch the hobgoblin and Snikwad the sprite, begin at the very Beginning when Jesus first created the entire universe (twice) about 6,000 years ago. Together they take us on a fascinating, story-by-story journey through fables like Eve and the Talking Serpent; Mother No-Ah’s Ark; Father Noah’s Hangover; The Wicked Sodomites Go Blind; The Scandal in the Cave; Tamar Turns a Trick; Holocaust of the Hivites; God Bless the Bastard Kings of Israel and all the sex, drugs, money, murder and mayhem that somehow don’t often make it into the weekly sermon.

On the way they discover that the Jewish deity Yahweh (or Jehovah) is as mythological as the Greek Zeus, the Norse Thor, or anyone else’s imaginary super-being. Not only is the biblical Yahweh not the One and Only God with a capital “G” of the entire universe, the genocidal old man in the sky is an interloper. According to the Reformation Hypothesis and other of those fiendish new propositions, Yahweh is very much a newcomer to the business of being a local, lowercase “g” ethnic god. The Diabolical Trio also recognise, of course, that Jesus was not really the “Son of God”. Back in the day, everyone who was anyone was sired by their local deity – often by way a local virgin.

Not a single word of the Bibles was inspired by the fictional Yahweh because Yahweh is fictional. However, under the fantastic folk tales of angels and virgins and talking donkeys, lie what appears to be layer upon layer of ingeniously allegorised human history. The male-only priests of the male-only new deity look to have used well-known Middle Eastern myths as cover stories for their Yahwist Reformation: when they threw Jesus’ ancestors and the Divine Feminine out of the temple in Jerusalem, and blamed women for, well, pretty much everything really. Ofttimes the boys of Yahweh added “scriptures” of their own and wrote exceedingly defamatory – and curiously anti-Semitic – slander and propaganda, with special venom reserved for Jesus’ corrupt, god-king, human-sacrificing forebears.

Satan’s Guide to the Bible is unique. While the Revelations are primarily reassurances for recovering Christians and introductions to new hypotheses, everyone is welcome to access them in e-book, YouTube and Facebook – and to give feedback. Not everyone will understand. Some will not wish to.
