The National Intelligence Strategy (NIS) sets out the following guiding\u003cbr\u003eprinciples: responsive and incisive understanding of global threats and opportunities,\u003cbr\u003ecoupled with an agility that brings to bear the Community’s capabilities.\u003cbr\u003eThe 2009 NIS represents several advances in the Director of National Intelligence’s\u003cbr\u003e(DNI) leadership of the National Intelligence Program (NIP) and the IC. It reflects a refined\u003cbr\u003eunderstanding of the counterterrorism challenge and elevates the importance of\u003cbr\u003ethe challenges we face in the cyber domain and from counterintelligence threats. This\u003cbr\u003eNIS also affirms priorities to focus IC plans and actions for the next four years, while\u003cbr\u003eproviding direction to guide development of future IC capabilities. The NIS highlights\u003cbr\u003eareas that demand our attention, resources, and commitment.
