For a detailed explanation of the operations process, readers \u003cbr\u003eshould refer to Army Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 5-0, The Operations Process. \u003cbr\u003eThe principal audience for ADP 5-0 includes Army commanders, leaders, and unit staffs \u003cbr\u003e(officers, noncommissioned officers, and Soldiers). Commanders and staffs of Army \u003cbr\u003eheadquarters serving as a joint task force or multinational headquarters should also refer to \u003cbr\u003eapplicable joint or multinational doctrine concerning the range of military operations as \u003cbr\u003ewell as joint or multinational forces. Trainers and educators throughout the Army will also \u003cbr\u003euse this manual. \u003cbr\u003eCommanders, staffs, and subordinates ensure their decisions and actions comply with \u003cbr\u003eapplicable U.S., international, and, in some cases, host nation laws and regulations. \u003cbr\u003eCommanders at all levels ensure their Soldiers operate in accordance with the law of war \u003cbr\u003eand the rules of engagement. (See Field Manual [FM] 27-10.) \u003cbr\u003eADP 5-0 uses joint terms where applicable. Selected joint and Army terms and definitions \u003cbr\u003eappear in both the glossary and the text. Terms for which ADP 5-0 is the proponent \u003cbr\u003epublication (the authority) are marked with an asterisk (*) in the glossary. Definitions for \u003cbr\u003ewhich ADP 5-0 is the proponent publication are boldfaced in the text. These terms and \u003cbr\u003etheir definitions will be in the next revision of FM 1-02.
