Some men are to be sharply\u003cbr\u003erebuked.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:1. Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to\u003cbr\u003ethe faith of the elect of God and the acknowledging of the truth, which\u003cbr\u003eis according to godliness:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:2. Unto the hope of life everlasting, which God, who lieth not, hath\u003cbr\u003epromised before the times of the world:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:3. But hath in due times manifested his word in preaching, which is\u003cbr\u003ecommitted to me according to the commandment of God our Saviour:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:4. To Titus, my beloved son according to the common faith, grace and\u003cbr\u003epeace, from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Saviour.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:5. For this cause I left thee in Crete: that thou shouldest set in\u003cbr\u003eorder the things that are wanting and shouldest ordain priests in every\u003cbr\u003ecity, as I also appointed thee:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:6. If any be without crime, the husband of one wife having faithful\u003cbr\u003echildren, not accused of riot or unruly.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:7. For a bishop must be without crime, as the steward of God: not\u003cbr\u003eproud, not subject to anger, nor given to wine, no striker, not greedy\u003cbr\u003eof filthy lucre:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:8. But given to hospitality, gentle, sober, just, holy, continent:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:9. Embracing that faithful word which is according to doctrine, that\u003cbr\u003ehe may be able to exhort in sound doctrine and to convince the\u003cbr\u003egainsayers.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:10. For there are also many disobedient, vain talkers and seducers:\u003cbr\u003eespecially they who are of the circumcision.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:11. Who must be reproved, who subvert whole houses, teaching things\u003cbr\u003ewhich they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:12. One of them a prophet of their own, said: The Cretans are always\u003cbr\u003eliars, evil beasts, slothful bellies.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:13. This testimony is true. Wherefore, rebuke them sharply, that they\u003cbr\u003emay be sound in the faith:\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:14. Not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn\u003cbr\u003ethemselves away from the truth.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:15. All things are clean to the clean: but to them that are defiled\u003cbr\u003eand to unbelievers, nothing is clean: but both their mind and their\u003cbr\u003econscience are defiled.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e1:16.
