2940149440474
Ellitoe's Egg
A space ship is hired to transport a Boofon prince, his wife and the various underlings required by this royal family to a SektaLock Council on the far side of the galaxy. The captain/owner is suspicious when all is paid in advance, but his contacts cannot detect any problem with the Prince or his travel plan. There is no known political problem and with the acceptance of the outrageous fee proposed, the Captain must follow through. What the Captain does not know is that the princess is pregnant, and pregnant Boofons ladies can pose a danger to all around. However, she is large; she is so large that she takes up the greater part of the large ship's bay area, so her pregnancy is not discovered until the ship is far out in space, half-way between here and there, and then, only because she becomes upset due to hormonal reactions to the combined tension of space travel and pregnancy. If she becomes too upset, she will destroy the entire ship and everyone on it.

There is a great deal more than meets the eye going on in this journey and you can discover it all in a few moments of reading pleasure. Meet the pompous prince and his lovely, but large princess, the Captain who knows some things really are too good to be true, and the various crew members, as well as slaves brought by the Boofon contingency for "entertainment." The combination is explosive.

There is a unique aspect to this story. One of the authors, Greg, along with the other author, Liz, had two children of learning age, who, with a bunch of friends came into the writing area and complained to Greg that they were having trouble thinking of ideas for a writing assignment at school. He told them to just sit down and write it; there is no such thing as white paper syndrome or writer's cramp. They tried to argue with him, he put up his hand and they stopped complaining. He said to them, "I'll show you; I will write a story right now in front of your nose to prove my point." Greg went on to write this short novel, and here it is, unedited, no changes, so you can see if he was right or wrong. As an additional note, none of the kids pursued a career in fiction but two became accomplished technical writers, under their parents' tutelage.
