Since becoming a painter, this adds a major dimension to my life that I did not even notice was missing before I began.\u003cbr\u003eThe beauty of publishing an art book is that\u003cbr\u003eI can allow the paintings to speak for themselves. They\u003cbr\u003ehave titles for identification purposes, but in my world\u003cbr\u003ethe titles are after thoughts, often scribbled on the back\u003cbr\u003eof canvases when the painting itself is still wet.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHowever, I am also a writer, and cannot resist\u003cbr\u003ethe urge to provide a brief introduction to this work.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI love the process of painting. I love working with\u003cbr\u003ethe paint, the brushes, the canvas, and in many of my paintings\u003cbr\u003ethe other materials I combine with the paint. I also love going\u003cbr\u003eplaces and collecting things and ideas to include.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhen I paint, I listen to music and tune out\u003cbr\u003ethe outside world. I sometimes can achieve almost a\u003cbr\u003emeditative state of concentration, as I am sure most\u003cbr\u003eartists can relate to. Most often I let go of preconceptions\u003cbr\u003eand allow the process to go where it will. I am often\u003cbr\u003esurprised by the final outcome on canvas. I am very\u003cbr\u003egrateful to be an artist.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMy artistic work is the product of personal\u003cbr\u003eexperimentation, intensive study of other people’s\u003cbr\u003eart, and a genuine desire to be the best artist I am\u003cbr\u003ecapable of being. Though well educated, I have made\u003cbr\u003eit a purposeful act to not take classes on how or what\u003cbr\u003eto paint.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAs you can imagine, this book covers only a fraction\u003cbr\u003eof the totality of my paintings.
