We are pleased to present a sampling of voices\u003cbr\u003eand writing styles of 40 contributors from 14 states, the District\u003cbr\u003eof Columbia, and one foreign country. Over a thousand authors\u003cbr\u003esubmitted their work for consideration in 2014. As editors, we\u003cbr\u003eare grateful for the opportunity to read their poems, short fiction,\u003cbr\u003eand essays. The published pieces represent a fraction of the good\u003cbr\u003ewriting we received.\u003cbr\u003eThe cover features doll artifacts that conjure images from\u003cbr\u003etimes past. They tease our imaginations with the potential for\u003cbr\u003ediscovery. Like the promise of literature, these crafted ceramic\u003cbr\u003eparts have survived generations and traveled far. The dolls were\u003cbr\u003eonce whole, their parts attached, like a writer’s characters. Their\u003cbr\u003epurpose was to inspire or entertain an audience.\u003cbr\u003eThe pieces, some 100 to 200 years old, were gathered at low\u003cbr\u003etide from under time-weathered piers in Provincetown harbor, off\u003cbr\u003eCape Cod. Fine art photographer Roger Camp arranged them to\u003cbr\u003ecreate the cover photograph, giving them renewed visibility.\u003cbr\u003eThe Delmarva Review strives to fulfill two purposes: to\u003cbr\u003ediscover and publish new literary work and to inspire other\u003cbr\u003ewriters, by example, to pursue excellence in literary writing.\u003cbr\u003eWe publish print and electronic editions and, through digital\u003cbr\u003etechnology, provide for wide distribution, far beyond an author’s\u003cbr\u003eregional borders. Our writers will reach new, discerning readers.\u003cbr\u003eReaders, many of whom are writers themselves, will find\u003cbr\u003ediversity among the pieces selected for this edition. The writing\u003cbr\u003ethat follows will give readers a sense of the writer’s voice and\u003cbr\u003ecommand of craft.
