They approach their discussions from different points of view, strongly influenced by their religious upbringing, their traditions and their education. Abdul-Raheem is a middle aged Yemeni Sunni Muslim steeped in Islamic-Arab tradition. Sam is a middle aged modern educated Christian Lebanese. Saleh is a Muslim seventy year old male Egyptian who earned a Ph.D. in science, specifically biology from a German university where he later taught. He lives permanently in Germany, but is currently in the UK. His niece is Nadia, an ultra modern divorced woman, accountant and economist by training, who works as a bank manger in London, England. She has a twenty year old daughter, attending university. Nadia, like her uncle Saleh, comes from a Muslim background but has divested herself from religion, and lives permanently in London.
Despite their divergent backgrounds, they developed a friendship over the years because Dr. Saleh knew them all, and brought them together. They meet regularly at a coffee shop on Edgware Road, London, and have lively discussions, captured in this play.
