2940159003126
The Vogn Legacy
Laser fire was smacking into everything around him long before he reached the safety of the woods. Ramsey dived to the ground just as his two grenades went off. He was then rewarded by the angry screams of the five dying Xips that had taken shelter behind the small structure. Only a black hole remained of the building as the dead Xips were covered in a rain of Tsath feces. He had been right, it was an outhouse. A fitting end for them as far as Ramsey was concerned. Once again, Ramsey was up and running for the trees.

Heavy laser fire slammed into the trees around Ramsey as more Xiphias showed up, looking to take part in a hunt for the human. Ramsey jumped behind a fallen log and turned towards his pursuers, loading one of his few remaining fully charged ammo magazines. Ramsey took aim at the closest group of Xiphias and fired three quick shots, taking down two Xiphias and just missing a third. The Xiphias were a very strong race, but the new UCP lasers were almost as strong as the Xiphias weapons and could cut through solid steel in the blink of an eye.

The Xiphias weren't quite as tough as steel, even with their body armor. Before the UCP scientists had figured out how to imitate the Xiphias heavy guns, the Xiphias body armor had been good protection. Now it was as useless as the UCP body armor had been when the war with the Xiphias had first begun.

Ramsey tossed another frag grenade and took off deeper into the woods. Suddenly, out of nowhere appeared another Marine. Ramsey was just barely able to stop his forward progress so that they didn't collide with her. They pointed their weapons at each other for a second, and then both turned towards the beacon signal and started running together.

She was from another Commonwealth Marine Division that had been dropped onto Cetus III. She was also a Jar-Muuk. A race very close to human's in appearance, but with some very noticeable differences. Among the Jar-Muuk, the females were the more aggressive sex; therefore, almost all Jar-Muuk politicians, scientists and Marines were female. Humans had mostly males and a large percentage of females in every support roll and profession within its realm. Most other aliens, except for the Meraluk, used mostly males, with just a few females in military roles.
