The paper consisted of U.S. and Japanese views on bilateral energy relations, together with a series of joint policy recommendations addressing the security of energy supplies, the need for more efficient use of energy, and the benefits to be derived from closer U.S.-Japan collaboration in these matters. Since this report was released, a dozen meetings between the relevant parties have taken place. This volume represents the joint conclusions of the most recent plenary session held in November of 1987.
