It really helps with learning to pay attention to certain things like how the veins in a leaf are arranged, whether the leaves have stems or attach directly to the stem, leaf serrations or lack, etc. Those details help tremendously with identification. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAnd not only that, just being in nature and focusing on one small thing at a time while I'm drawing is an intangible sort of benefit. It's almost like meditation. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eA relationship with nature develops no matter how recognizable (to others) the sketch is in the end.
