It won’t happen with each selection, and perhaps not with the first reading; though there is definitely something for everyone in these pages.  My first book, Art and Poetry from The Ice, was a small collection of poems done at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, and illustrated by a friend (who later became my husband); now that’s a partnership! My early beginnings happened in a small farming community in Maine. I grew up with three brothers, two sisters and a whole community of friends and neighbors. Rural life was never dull. While I was in high school, our house and barn burned to the ground ... the good news ... no one was hurt, and my perspective changed dramatically. I have been writing poetry and prose for as long as I can remember ... though my collected poems only date back to early adulthood. Previously I would write ... and give the verse to the one who inspired it. My mother had quite a collection before our ‘fire’. As I travel, experience new places, and meet new people, I generally put my thoughts and feelings on paper. Hence - From Maine to McMurdo by way of Mesquite - I believe I am drawn to place names that begin with \"M\" because it’s the first letter of my first name. Also, I don’t know of very many people who can run \"M-M-M-M-s\" together without thinking of something \"yummy\". With that ... I’ll share my favorite phrase \"Life is People\" ...
