Then six\u003cbr\u003emonths in a Nursing Home in London. Then one year with the Department\u003cbr\u003eof Immigration in Sydney and Parramatta. Then from 1987 I worked for the\u003cbr\u003eAged Care Assessment Team attached to the Bankstown Hospital. I retired\u003cbr\u003ein March 2007 on my 76th birthday.\u003cbr\u003eI enjoyed my work. I liked many of my clients and most of my\u003cbr\u003eco-workers.\u003cbr\u003eI remember some of the cases I had to deal with; many were unusual,\u003cbr\u003esome were sad, some impossible and a few amusing, but all were interesting\u003cbr\u003eas no two people are alike.\u003cbr\u003eIn CO.AS.IT. I had a whole range of problems to deal with. All the\u003cbr\u003eclients were Italian migrants mainly from a Peasant background. They\u003cbr\u003espoke mostly their native dialects mixed with Italian. The greatest number\u003cbr\u003ecame from the south of Italy (PUGLIA, CALABRIA, SICILY, and around\u003cbr\u003eNAPLES) and from the poorer parts of the North (Veneto).\u003cbr\u003eI spoke Italian and soon understood the different dialects although I\u003cbr\u003enever spoke any of them.
