Briefer eventually morphed him into a humorous character.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAvon Publications' one shot Eerie Comics #1 (Jan. 1947) has been classed as 'the first out-and-out horror comic book'. This title then reappeared in 1951 and ran for 17 issues.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAmerican Comics Group's Adventures into the Unknown (1948-1967) enjoyed the longest run from these pioneer comic book titles.
