{"product_id":"9781618637949","title":"Remembering My Life in Christ","description":"The four Gospels are the starting place for Christianity. Jesus trained His disciples to be like Himself. The only difference today is that the Holy Spirit is living in us, to help us be like Jesus. Temperance takes self-discipline and it is only effective in changing ourselves. Trying to change others is the world's way of forcing people to be righteous. Righteousness comes only by way of Jesus Christ, and Jesus in us has to be in control by our Temperance. Mankind knows well the flaws in human nature, and man's ways to deal with these are to bring others into obedience by force. The government enforces the law by incarceration. The armed forces use strict discipline by force. Employers control the employee from the time he punches in until he punches out. When angry, parents force discipline on their children. Church discipline without love has caused much bitterness in almost every church in the country. Church leadership is based on Biblical knowledge before virtue. Second Peter 1:5 says virtue comes before knowledge. Forced discipline doesn't work any better in the church than in any secular organization. Church divisions are the major reason for people leaving the church. Every year since 1957, church attendance has dropped from 65 percent of Americans attending church to now only 14 percent, and it is continuing to decrease. Disciplining Christians living in sin is mostly an act of accusing or excusing sin. See Romans 2:15. The answers to all these problems are found in the Gospels, not in the Epistles. Jesus dealt with Judas in a very special way, which was without an argument but not without suffering. We also can love our enemy. See Chapters 101-112.","brand":"Bookstand Publishing","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":47056733176048,"sku":"9781618637949","price":15.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0737\/7593\/9824\/files\/9781618637949_p0.jpg?v=1763853171","url":"https:\/\/shop-qa.barnesandnoble.com\/products\/9781618637949","provider":"Barnes \u0026 Noble (DEV)","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
