They are promoted based on past accomplishments, whereas men are often promoted\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003ebased on potential. Women also face barriers within themselves: lack of self-confidence, prejudices,\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003eand low expectations. It is critical for women to overcome these internal and external barriers.\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003eThe first chapter of the book lays out some of the complex challenges that women face, and each\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003esubsequent chapter focuses on how to overcome each of them.\u003c\/p\u003e  \u003cp\u003eIt is not a memoir, nor is it a self-help book.
