She proposes a radical new direction for ecopoetics and deploys it in relation to four major American poets. Working from literal to textual spaces through the contemporary poetry of A.R. Ammons’s \u003ci\u003eGarbage,\u003c\/i\u003e Lyn Hejinian’s \u003ci\u003eMy Life,\u003c\/i\u003e Susan Howe’s \u003ci\u003eThe Midnight,\u003c\/i\u003e and Kenneth Goldsmith’s \u003ci\u003eSeven American Deaths and Disasters,\u003c\/i\u003e the book presents applications of \u003ci\u003eunnatural ecopoetics \u003c\/i\u003ein poetic environments, ones that do not engage with traditional ideas of nature and would otherwise remain outside the scope of ecocritical and ecopoetic studies.\u003cbr\u003e  \u003cbr\u003e Nolan proposes a new practical approach for reading poetic language.
