Countries agreed on a clear strategy and roadmap for the establishment of ANAF as an Intergovernmental Organization (IGO). Two options were proposed for the establishment of ANAF: hosting of the ANAF secretariat by a member country as an IGO; or integration of ANAF as a unit within the African Union's InterAfrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) structure.
