"This documentary focusing on the country music scene in Nashville circa 1969 gets a simple presentation for this DVD release from Xenon Pictures. The Nashville Sound has been transferred to disc in the full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and while the transfer itself is good enough, the source materials have seen better days, with the print displaying some very noticeable scratches and wear, especially at reel changes, and the color balance often leans a bit heavy to the red end of the spectrum. The original monophonic sound mix is preserved in an audio track mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo; the sound fares better than the picture, but could stand a bit of a clean-up. The interviews and performances are in English, with no subtitles or language options. No bonus materials have been included on this release, though it does include a puzzling variety of trailers of other Xenon releases, including the bad-taste comedy Poor White Trash, the groupie documentary Plaster Caster, and films on gospel legend Mahalia Jackson, white hip-hop star Eminem, and gangsta rap label Death Row Records."
