Per sfuggire al clima di violenza dell'apartheid, Lindiwe e suo marito Bongani decidono di emigrare, per salvarsi e continuare la lotta. Ma nell'esilio, Lindiwe perde la sua identità. In un mondo che non si sforza neppure di pronunciare il suo vero nome, perché "troppo difficile",Lindiwe diventa Ruth, una figura anonima.
Dopo oltre trent'anni, la Storia cambia il suo corso: "Il Sudafrica si sta affacciando all'era della democrazia". È il 1994. Ruth è travolta dai ricordi: deve recuperare Lindiwe. Il lungo e sofferto dialogo interiore tra queste due donne diverse che convivono nello stesso corpo nel dramma dell'esilio. I flashback su un passato di violenza e ingiustizia, le fatiche per riappropriarsi dell'identità negata.

At the beginning of the Sixties, in order to escape the apartheid's atmosphere of violence, Lindiwe and her husband, Bongani, decide to leave South Africa to save themselves and to carry on the fight against racial segregation. In a world that doesn't even strive to pronounce her name as too difficult, Lindiwe becomes Ruth, losing her own identity. After more than thirty years finally comes the news so much hoped for: South Africa is getting into the democracy era. It's 1994, Ruth is overwhelmed by memories and must recover Lindiwe. Valentina Acava Mmaka expresses the long and hard-fought dialogue between these two women living in the same body, the flashbacks on a past made of violence and injustice, and the efforts to reappropriate the denied identity with a unique style.
