Only the Lonely

A sentimental comedy reminiscent of the 1955 Academy Award-winner Marty, Chris Columbus' Only the Lonely stars John Candy as Danny Muldoon, a Chicago cop who is pushing 40 and still living at home with his domineering mother Rose (Maureen O'Hara). When Danny falls for meek Theresa Luna (Ally Sheedy), Rose is aghast, forcing him to choose between his own happiness or his mother's.
