"""What's in the basket?"" is the question on everyone's mind in the low-budget horror movie Basket Case. Elite Entertainment has done admirable work on this cult classic starting with a 1.33:1 full-frame transfer. Sporting all kinds of grain and dirt, this is a very rough transfer, but with the amount the budget ended up being, this is not surprising. Certainly it would have been nice to have seen the images and colors a bit clearer; however, this may be the best Basket Case ever looks. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono and while unimpressive, it works fine in the confines of the film. Dialogue and effects tend to have a small amount of distortion, but overall this is a decent and clean soundtrack. No subtitles or alternate tracks are included on this disc. This edition of Basket Case is crammed full of special features that should make any horror fan drool. To start with, there is an entertaining commentary track by director Frank Henenlotter, producer Edgar Levins, and actress Beverly Bonner. All three participants are full of stories and tidbits about the making of the film. Next up on the disc is a video short titled ""In Search of the Hotel Broslin,"" a small documentary about the locations used in the film. Some radio interviews are included with actress Terri Susan Smith, as well as a gallery of promotional art and behind-the-scenes photos, radio spots for the film, outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage, a TV spot, two theatrical trailers, and a very bizarre short titled ""Beverly Bonner's Laugh Track,"" which is essentially a plug for her public access TV show. All in all, this edition of Basket Case is a bundle of horror fun!"
