"Somewhere in the middle of the West German Christiane F is a generous chunk of concert footage featuring David Bowie. This might have been the highlight of this dreary film, except for the fact that Bowie seems to be as bummed out as everyone else in the cast. Surrounding the concert is the plodding tale of an aimless teen-aged girl, played by Natja Brunkhorst. In search of kicks, Brunkhorst falls in with junkie/pusher Thomas Haustein. The film makes its point early on, then repeats it ad nauseam for 124 minutes."
