"This disjointed exploitation ""roughie"" take on The Most Dangerous Game has earned a small legion of admirers due to its disorienting plotting and construction, as well as the stunt casting of a dissolute Jake La Motta as one of the targets of Virginia's deranged ""hunts."" A fair amount of aggressive sex and violence is also a selling point, although the prurient material seems to have been added after the film's completion (there's no saying which of the directors -- Herb Stanley or Eve -- is responsible for which part of the film, as nothing is known about either of these undoubtedly pseudonymous personalities). The exaggerated camera angles, haphazard editing, and truly grotesque performances (especially La Motta and Eileen Lord as the Psycho Cat herself) make for a memorably bizarre viewing experience, which is made all the more perverse by the loopy manhunt story line and the characters' cut-rate psychological motivation. For fans of extreme exploitation, Confessions of a Psycho Cat delivers the kinky goods. According to exploitation historian Bill Landis, the film made the rounds in New York's 42nd Street theaters for over a decade after its initial release. The Something Weird Video and Image Entertainment DVD provides considerable bang for the buyer's buck. The digitally remastered print and original trailer are accompanied by a second grindhouse feature, 1965's Hot Blooded Woman, as well as a wealth of sexploitation trailers and a bleak short feature, Preface to a Life, starring Don Murray as a slowly unraveling small-town citizen."
