Unholy Matrimony/My Third Wife George

"Two tales of marriage gone bad (and gone very strange in the process) are collected on this two-fer DVD release from the exploitation archivists at Something Weird Video. Both Unholy Matrimony and My Third Wife, George have been transferred to disc in their original full-frame aspect ratios of 1.33:1, and they look good in their DVD debut; while the original photography is less than stellar in both features, the quality is at least average or a bit better compared to most sexploitation efforts from the mid-60's. Clean source materials have been used for the transfers, and it's doubtful these films have looked this good since their original theatrical release. The audio for both films is in English (with no subtitles or multiple language options) and has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo, retaining the original mono sound mixes. The audio mastering is fine, through the original recordings for Unholy Matrimony are often barely intelligible in the movie's first half, which couldn't be helped at this late date but is distracting. This disc has been loaded up with bonus materials, including trailers for Unholy Matrimony, My Third Wife, George and eight other marriage-themed exploitation features. SWV have also included three vintage educational films, Engagement: Romance and Reality, Are You Ready For Marriage? and Marriage and Divorce, as well as the self-explanatory Nudist Wedding and a vintage promotional short on filmmaking in the Sunshine State, Florida's Film Factory. A gallery of promotional ad artwork accompanied by radio spots closes out the package. No one does a better job at preserving the heritage of American exploitation filmmaking than Something Weird Video, and this disc is another example of what they do best -- it's trash cinema at its best, and brought to DVD with tender loving care."
