Breaking Away

"Youth and biking come together in the 1980s classic Breaking Away. Fox's work on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer is very nice save for some grain and a small amount of edge enhancement in the image. Sporting solid black levels and even color patterns, this is a very pleasant-looking transfer by Fox. Also included on side B is a full-frame version of the film. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround in English and French and is fairly bland. While there are a few muted directional effects, overall this soundtrack is only filtered though the front and center speakers. Also included on this disc is a Dolby Mono soundtrack in English as well as English and Spanish subtitles. The extra features on Breaking Away are as thin as spandex shorts -- all the viewer gets under the supplemental section of the disc are a few theatrical trailers for various Fox movies, plus a few TV spots for the film."
