Thirteen

"Catherine Hardwicke's drama about rebellious teenage girls, Thirteen, comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame image. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while Spanish and French soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Hardwicke, co-screenwriter/actress Nikki Reed, lead Evan Rachel Wood, and actor Brady Corbet. They recount many stories about how they were forced to stretch their limited budget, and how difficult the shooting schedule was as the child actors could legally work only so many hours per day. A handful of deleted scenes with optional commentary, a making-of featurette, and the theatrical trailer round out this solid release from 20th Century Fox."
