The Frogmen

"Lloyd Bacon's The Frogmen (1951) is an enjoyable if not too ambitious war movie, made at a time when underwater demolition was something new in our military. The drama is well executed and the script is convincing, showing the warts (such as intra-service rivalries) of the navy men as well as their bravery. The black-and-white movie has been well transferred in full-screen (1.33:1) from a clean, crisp source, and the volume, although a little low, pumps up nicely. The movie has been given a more-than-adequate 20 chapters and comes with optional French- and Spanish-language audio tracks as well as English, French, and Spanish subtitles. The only bonus materials are a theatrical teaser that's a little vague and two somewhat over-enthusiastic original trailers."
