The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker

This film is based on the Liam O'Brien stage play of the same name. Pennypacker (Clifton Webb) is a progressively minded sausage manufacturer who divides his time between his two plants in Philadelphia and Harrisburg. In addition to the two factories, he has two different houses and families in each city. He keeps the families secret from one another as long as possible until his bigamy is discovered. This leads to humorous conflicts between the free thinking Pennypacker amidst the conservative social climate of Victorian era America in the 1890s
