This British-made historical drama depicts the rise of young Elizabeth Tudor to Queen of England, a reign of intrigue and betrayals. Elizabeth is crowned in 1558. She is then faced with a bankrupt country, no army to attack the advancing French, angry clergy, and pressures to make a political marriage.
