American Pie [Ultimate Edition] [Rated]

"Some will argue that American Pie is the definitive teenage sex comedy of the 1990s, and there's little disputing that this DVD edition of the film gives fans practically everything they could ask for from a home video presentation of the movie. The disc features two transfers of the film: a letterboxed transfer presented in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio (enhanced for widescreen monitors) and a full-frame pan-and-scan version. Viewers have a choice of two English-language soundtracks -- one in Dolby Digital 5.1, the other in DTS 5.1 -- and there's also a bonus French-language track in Dolby Digital 5.1. The film is closed captioned in English, with encoding for optional Spanish subtitles. Director Paul Weitz, producer Chris Weitz, screenwriter Adam Herz, and several members of the cast team up for an additional commentary track, while the Weitzes also add commentary to a montage of production photographs. A selection of deleted scenes and alternate takes has been included, along with the film's original theatrical trailers. There is also a short feature on the production of the movie, and a gallery of art prepared for the film's poster. Tonic's music video for the song ""You Wanted More,"" featuring footage from the movie, is featured, along with live performance footage of the band. Biographies of the key members of the cast and crew and production notes are also on board, along with a page of dialogue highlights. Computer users with DVD-ROM drives can access a special video game, a feature that allows viewers to compare scenes from the script with the finished product, and links to the American Pie web site. And finally, the disc offers a sneak peek at American Pie 2, the film's highly anticipated sequel. If this package has a drawback, it's that it features the R-rated theatrical version of the film, rather than the longer un-rated cut (which appears on a similar package), but otherwise this is enough Pie to keep any comedy fan satisfied."
