The Miller-Croft family, much respected in and around London and further afield in the market town of Meadowbank where the matriarch, Catherine Miller-Croft, had made her home for over forty years, but like many families, the Miller-Crofts had their secrets. With the grim discovery of the body of Catherine's step-daughter, those previously closely guarded secrets were soon to be exposed and become front-page news.

Chief Inspector Brenda Masters and Inspector Ian Ash found themselves confronted with not only solving what was being described by the press as the 'Miller-Croft Murders', but to unravelling the complexities of Catherine's extended family.
