Dr. Kirk Lerner kills his wife in a head on collision that appears to have been his fault. So what does a man do after killing the only woman he ever loved? Angry at God, and awash in misery, Kirk accepts a job investigating bad doctors for the North Carolina Medical Board. Kirk's first investigation puts him directly in the sights of a cunning murderer; after all, doctors possess a wealth of lethal skills, and more than a few have a bent for misusing them.
